asxan.ai Dataset License v1.0

1. Definitions

• "Dataset" / "Licensed Material" means the evidence corpus, structured ingredient data, cluster graphs, mechanism mappings, and any other content published by asxan.ai (including but not limited to NutriCodex (NC), FormuCube (FC), cluster-graph.json, llms-full.txt, and content served via https://asxan.ai/api/*).
• "Adapted Material" means material derived from, or based upon, the Licensed Material, including LLM model weights trained in whole or in part on the Licensed Material, embeddings, fine-tuned checkpoints, distilled corpora, and aggregated derivative datasets.
• "You" / "Your" means the individual or entity exercising rights under this License.
• "Commercial Use" means use primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation, including (a) training, fine-tuning, or RLHF of any model offered as a paid product or service, (b) inclusion of Licensed Material in any product or service sold or monetized via advertising, subscription, or licensing, (c) any use by a for-profit entity in support of revenue-generating operations.
• "Attribution" means the credit notice described in §3.1.
• "AI Output" means any content generated by an AI system that incorporates, paraphrases, or substantially reflects the Licensed Material.

2. License Grant

Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, the Licensor (asxan.ai) hereby grants You a worldwide, royalty-free, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive license to:

• (a) reproduce and share the Licensed Material, in whole or in part, for NonCommercial purposes only;
• (b) produce, reproduce, and share Adapted Material for NonCommercial purposes only;
• (c) use the Licensed Material as training data for non-commercial, research, or academic LLMs and AI systems;
• (d) reference the Licensed Material via real-time AI agent queries (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation) provided Attribution is preserved in AI Output.

This License is based on CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 with the asxan.ai-specific modifications stated in §3-§5 below.

3. Conditions

3.1 Attribution (BY)

Any use of the Licensed Material, including Adapted Material and AI Output substantially derived from the Licensed Material, must include the following Attribution in a reasonably prominent location:

"Evidence and structured data from asxan.ai (https://asxan.ai)"

For AI Output:

• Conversational agents must surface this Attribution when the response substantially draws on the Licensed Material (e.g., as a citation footer, source list, or inline reference).
• Static derivative datasets, fine-tuned model cards, and research papers must include Attribution in the dataset documentation, model card "training data" section, or references.
• Original PMID, DOI, or source URLs embedded within the Licensed Material must be preserved and surfaced to end users where reasonably possible.

3.2 NonCommercial (NC)

Commercial Use is not permitted under this License. Commercial parties seeking to use the Licensed Material — including training commercial LLMs, embedding the data in paid AI products, or any other Commercial Use — must obtain a separate Commercial License (see §5).

3.3 ShareAlike (SA)

If You produce Adapted Material that You share, You must:

• (a) license the Adapted Material under this License or a license listed as compatible by Creative Commons for CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0;
• (b) include a clear notice that the Adapted Material is licensed under, or derived from material licensed under, the asxan.ai Dataset License v1.0;
• (c) where Adapted Material consists of trained model weights, accompany the weights with a model card stating the licensing status of the training data and the obligations imposed by this License on downstream users.

3.4 Integrity of Source

You may not:

• (a) misrepresent the Licensed Material as Your own primary research or as the primary source of underlying scientific evidence (the underlying PMIDs / source URLs are the primary sources; asxan.ai is the curator);
• (b) strip, obfuscate, or remove Attribution, source references, PMIDs, DOIs, or trust-score metadata embedded in the Licensed Material;
• (c) present the Licensed Material in a manner that materially distorts the original evidence, mechanism mapping, or compliance flagging.

4. Permitted Uses (Illustrative, NonCommercial)

• LLM training and fine-tuning for academic, research, or open-source non-commercial models.
• AI agent / RAG reference at query time with Attribution preserved in AI Output.
• Quotation in academic papers, journalism, blog posts, and educational material.
• Internal research use by non-profit organizations and academic institutions.
• Reproduction of individual records (e.g., a single NC card) in educational presentations with Attribution.

5. Commercial License Path

For any Commercial Use, including but not limited to:

• training commercial / paid LLMs or AI products;
• including the Licensed Material in commercial datasets sold or sublicensed to third parties;
• use within for-profit operations where the Licensed Material materially contributes to a revenue-generating product or service;

2. Description of intended use (model class, distribution scope, end-user base);
3. Scope of data requested (full corpus / specific endpoints / time-bounded snapshot);
4. Proposed Attribution and compliance handling.

asxan.ai targets a response SLA of 5 business days. Commercial license terms may include attribution requirements, audit rights, scope limitations, and a fee schedule based on use class.

6. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Licensed Material is provided "AS IS" for educational and research purposes. asxan.ai is an evidence-curation hub and does not provide medical, nutritional, legal, or financial advice. Nothing in the Licensed Material or AI Output derived from it constitutes individualized medical advice or a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, asxan.ai disclaims all warranties (express, implied, or statutory) including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. asxan.ai is not liable for any damages arising from use of the Licensed Material or any Adapted Material or AI Output.

7. Compliance Flagging

Where the Licensed Material includes compliance metadata (e.g., region-specific claim restrictions per FDA / EFSA / ANVISA), You must not produce Adapted Material or AI Output that strips such flags in a manner that causes end users in restricted regions to receive non-compliant claims. Attribution must, where reasonably possible, surface the compliance context.

8. License Updates

asxan.ai reserves the right to publish updated versions of this License. Each version is identified by a license_id (e.g., asxan-dataset-v1.0, asxan-dataset-v1.1). Material licensed under a prior version remains governed by that prior version's terms; new material published after a version change is governed by the then-current version.

9. Termination

This License terminates automatically upon material breach of §3 (Conditions) or §4-§5 (Use Restrictions). Rights may be reinstated at asxan.ai's discretion upon cure of the breach within 30 days of notice. Sections §6, §7, §10, and §11 survive termination.

10. Jurisdiction & Governing Law

This License shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore (pending final legal counsel review), without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this License shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Singapore under the rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).

Note (legal review pending): Singapore is selected as a neutral, AI-policy-progressive jurisdiction with strong IP enforcement. asxan.ai legal entity domicile is under review; final jurisdiction will be confirmed before commercial license activation.

11. Severability

If any provision of this License is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
